Welcome and Networking Days 2023
"At the end of the junior professorship or tenure-track professorship, the goal is to have successfully completed the role change to a leader and to have the competencies ready to carry out leadership tasks and to act cooperatively, strategically, in a structured and self-reflective manner," according to the current evaluation regulations for junior professors.
On March 27 and 28, the MLU Welcome and Networking Days 2023 offered junior and tenure-track professors* the opportunity to intensively address the topic of (personnel) leadership. With Prof. Lioba Werth, author of the book Leading Personnel in Higher Education and Science Professionally, the junior and tenure-track professors had an experienced trainer at their side. This time, the participants were able to get to know the Faculty of Theology in the Francke Foundations, a very special scientific cosmos and certainly one of the most beautiful sites in Halle.

Stanislau Paulau, one of the participants and also a tenure-track professor at the Faculty of Theology, perceives the Welcome Days as very enriching: "Thanks to the training, I was able to significantly deepen my understanding of effective leadership in the academic workplace and gain valuable knowledge about motivation, team leadership and leadership tools. It became clear that successful personnel management is not only characterized by scientifically sound knowledge. Rather, it also requires the ability to deal with diversity and micropolitics, as well as the willingness to constructively navigate through change."
