Higher education-wide Reporting System (IMS)

The project „Introduction of a higher education-wide Reporting System in Saxony-Anhalt“, is a joint project of the Ministry of Science and Economy and the two universities of Saxony-Anhalt.

With the support of the Ministry for Science and Economy an information management system (IMS) will be procured and implemented. It will respond to concrete needs which will have been mapped out before and which respond to the requirements of the Ministry.

During the test phase the main focus lies on “Staff” and “Students” as well as the generation and establishment of the IMS. The creation of a new key word catalogue supported by all universities is of particular importance to provide consistent analysis by the IMS.

The IT Service Center of Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg will take over the technical support of IMS and will place it to all project institutions’ disposal by guaranteeing the data and information control. According to it's special experience, competence and personnel capacities each university will create an executable standard solution for one of the special fields. Finally, all results will be combined to an entire system of reporting.

Besides the project „Higher education-wide Reporting System“, project group “Internal Reporting System” of University Halle (Staff Unit for Higher Education Planning and Information Management) will compile the content for an internal reporting system which will be brought into line with the higher education-wide requirements. In the long run IMS will help to reply to enquiries of different stakeholders promptly, efficiently and consistently. Here, emphasis is put on the data information quality, the traceability of results and self dependent generation and use.
