DIES Project "Capacity Building"
Together with the University of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and the Gulu University in Uganda, a project was launched that focuses on knowledge and technology transfer, graduate programs and quality management in the higher education landscape of both countries.
The project, financed by the DAAD until 2022, now extends the scientific cooperation with MLU, which has existed since 2009, to include the aspect of science administration.
In the field of knowledge and technology transfer, the experts from the Transfer and Start-Up Service are primarily interested in helping to establish structures in which scientists receive support so that their results can be used in society - for example through patents or spin-offs. The cooperation with the International Office and the Graduate Programs department aims to establish a center that will standardize the PhD programs of the Ethiopian university and at the same time help it to distinguish itself more strongly as a research university.
The staff unit for university planning and information management is responsible for the third subproject. The focus here is on the establishment of an internal quality management system, the use of benchmarks and rankings, and the development of indicators for the continuous assessment of the position of both universities within the global higher education landscape.
